A mosque was desecrated in North Minneapolis by unknown assailants. A nearby Muslim owned business was vandalized and spray painted with hate speech in the form of graffiti according to CBS Minnesota.

The Minnesota branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a press release condemning the heinous hate crime. The CAIR also revealed Masjid Al Nuur was the target of the hate crime.

The Minneapolis police department have announced there investigating the incident but have not revealed weather it’ll be investigated as a war crime. The city of Minneapolis is Minnesota’s 5th district and home to tens of thousands of Muslims.

The Masjid Al Nuur mosque which was desecrated is routinely visited by Muslim worshippers of Somali decent. Somali-American congresswoman Ilhaan Omar represents the 5th district and strongly condemned the islamaphobic attack on a place of worship.
