The capital Mogadishu was rocked by a series of assassinations tonight, which all bare the hallmarks of the militant group Al Shabaab. The latest string of killings occurred in the Yaqshiid and Wadajir districts of Mogadishu.
Sources that spoke with Halgan Media reveal the first set of killings occurred in the Sanca area of the Yaqshiid district. Pistol wielding gunmen open fired on two unsuspecting police officers. The hail of bullets struck the duo in which they died instantly. The gunmen than fled the scene on foot.
A similiar killing occurred shortly after in the Wadajir district this time targeting a senior police commander. According to sources suspected Militants killed Colonel Abdullahi Moalim Weydoow in the Nasteexo neighborhood of Mogadishu’s Wadajir district.
As usual, the militants escaped the scene following the gruesome killing. It’s still not clear weather the senior official, in this case Colonel Abdullahi had his body guards or security personnel present during the assassination.
The Militant group Al Shabaab routinely carries out hits and targeted killings against Govt officials, military and police personnel in the capital Mogadishu. The federal government of Somalia is yet to comment on this latest string of killings targeting the police force.
