Fierce clashes erupted this evening in the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province, when Militants from the neighboring Oromo Regional State launched a cross border raid.
Residents in the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed where able to repulse the cross border raid with light weaponry according to eyewitnesses, which forced the invading Oromo Militants to scurry away into the bush. No casualties where reported in today’s clashes.
Todays attack on the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed comes just two weeks after a “supposed” peace conference was held in Jigjiga in August 4th etween leaders of the Somali and Oromo regional state. This isn’t the first time that Oromo’s have proposed peace with Somalis and later attacked.
What angers Somalis more than these cross border raids, is the other silence and negligence by interim President Mustafa Omar (Cagjar) regarding these rampant attacks targeting Tuliguuleed. Keep in mind the border the town of Tuliguuleed is just 30 minutes away from the capital Jigjiga but the sitting president Mustafa Omar (Cagjar) simply doesn’t care.
We will keep you updated with the latest developments from the region.
