Coalition troops from the Burundian contingent of the AMISOM mandate stuck a roadside bomb while escorting a water tanker through the restive Middle Shabelle province of Somalia.

Per sources, multiple AMISOM military convoys departed the provincial capital of Jowhar and where in route to the vicinity of Mahaaday and Buurane prior to encountering a roadside bomb.

One of the Burundian-manned military convoys was completely engulfed in flames moments after striking the roadside bomb. The remaining Burundian-manned AMISOM convoys began indiscriminately opening fire on civilians walking on the road near the blast site according to eyewitnesses.

The number of people struck by the indiscriminate fire from the Foreign forces remains unknown at the moment. Following the blast and subsequent gunfire, the Foreign troops cordoned off the area.

Foreign troops deployed in Somalia, which number into the tens of thousands routinely carry out abuses and atrocities targeting civilians when they encounter blasts or insurgent attacks.
