Unidentified aircraft carried out a series of strikes this morning in the Jubba valley in southern Somalia. Local contacts based in Jubada Hoose province reveal the strikes took place on the volatile road connecting the Al Shabaab stronghold in Jilib and the port city of Kismaayo.
The casualties, if any remain unknown. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest aerial bombardment targeting southern Somalia. It’s widely believed by reliable sources that the US and possibly KDF could be the perpetrators of today’s early morning strikes.
The KDF (Kenyan Defense Force) routinely carry out aerial assaults targeting the following provinces of Jubada Hoose, Jubada Dhexe and Gedo. Those that face the brunt of these attacks tend to be civilians and rural pastoralists.
On the other hand it’s also believed the US could have carried the latest attack. The Jubba Valley, as well as various parts of southern Somalia have been besieged by US drones at an unprecedented rate following the inauguration of US president Donald Trump.
The US has also been implicated in War Crimes by the watch group “Amnesty International” in a report published in late March of this year as result of its murderous drone campaign in Somalia.
