A suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest at the entrance of a Turkish military base in the Somali capital Mogadishu, leaving three dead.

According to Ismail Omar, the spokesman for the Somalia’s ministry of information a potential recruit and a civilian in the vicinity of the blast where killed along with the suicide bomber.
The Al Qaeda affiliated Militant group Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published on the pro militant website dubbed Somali Memo.
Turkey’s largest overseas military base was opened in Mogadishu, Somalia during the fall of 2016 at a whopping 50 million dollars. The facility serves as a military base for Ankara in the strategic Horn of Africa nation, as well as a training academy for the Somali army.
Al Shabaab have in the past targeted Turkish nationals and military personnel in Somalia and have even condemned Turkey’s military presence in the country.
