Two Oromo Settlers Gunned Down In Northern Somalia

A shooting last night in the city of Hargeysa in Waqooyiga Galbeed province Somalia left two Oromo Settlers dead according to local media reports. The incident occurred in the Haleeya district outside the city.

What provoked the shooting remains unknown. The culprits that carried out the attack where captured shortly after the incident according to Lietenent Cabdiraxmaan Liibaan Fooxle who spoke with the money shortly after the killings.

The targeted killing targeting the settler community from Ethiopia’s Oromo community came as Somali-Oromo tensions in Ethiopia continue to simmer. It was just three days ago on the 20th of August when Oromo Militants attacked the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province, provoking public backlash from Somalis across the Horn, in particular Ethiopia.
