The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have issued a travel advisory warning its citizens and nationals abroad to avoid visiting war torn Somalia.

The UK Foreign Affairs office stated that the situation in Somalia remains unstable and the country is still prone to terror attacks, particularly those targeting Foreign nationals.

Furthermore, the UK Foreign Affairs office warned its citizens in the relative peaceful region of Somaliland in Northern Somalia to be cautious and vigilant.

Tens of thousands of Somalis live in the United Kingdom and routinely take trips back home. The UK, like most western countries have been keeping a close eye on the volatile situation in Somalia.

This is the third year, the United Kingdom has issued a travel advisory for Somalia as the country struggles with rampant lawlessness, terrorism and a Rebel style insurgency led by the armed group Al Shabaab.
