A blast ripped through a bustling Market in the Wanlaweyn district of the volatile Lower Shabelle province of Somalia withim the past hour.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reveal an IED exploded at the main entrance of the local market, commonly referred to as “Suuqa Hoose” , which instantly killed two civilians.
In the run up to the blast a group of government troops where conjoured together and its widely believed that these troops where the initial target of the blast.
Furthermore, the main entrance of the local market where the blast occurred is adjacent to a military base housing 300 troops from the elite Daraaswish unit of Somalia’s autonomous Southwest regional state.
Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and removed the bodies of the two deceased civilians. Today’s deadly blast in Wanlaweyn is the 4th such incident in the past three weeks alone.
