Security forces launched a series of raids across northern Somalia’s port city of Bosaaso. The raids said to be targeting suspected militants and sleeper cells loyal to the Islamic State faction (ISIS) in Somalia.

The door to door raids said to have stretched over the span of the past 48 hours and targeted a series of residential homes in the coastal city. This latest counter terrorism sweep comes just days after security forces foiled an ISIS attack in Bosaaso.

Its not clear on the number of suspected militants rounded up during the sweep. However security sources revealed the raids where carried out by the PSF – a US funded counter terrorism unit that operates in Somalia’s autonomous Puntland region.
