Unknown armed assailants hurled a grenade at an Ethiopian military convoy traveling through the city of Dembi Dollo in Ethiopia’s volatile Wollega province according to local media reports.
Two civilians in the vicinity of the grenade blast died at the scene as a result of being struck by shrapnel from the explosion. The military convoy carrying the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) suffered minor damage. The culprits that carried out the attack reportedly fled the scene on foot and are yet to be identified.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet Wollega province remains a stronghold for multi faced factions hailing from the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) rebel group and a breathing ground for Oromo militancy.
