Suspected US drones launched a series of strikes overnight bombing the Al Shabaab controlled town of Jilib in the Middle Jubba province of Somalia.
Sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal three missiles rained down on the town in the midst of the night. The strikes struck a densely populated neighborhood in the town.
Three civilians where instantly killed in the deadly drone strike according to sources. The victims have been identified as two males and a women.
Halgan Media has obtained the names of the victims which are listed below.
- Abdi Osman Keerow
- Goosar Madaay
- Xaajiyo Muuse Macow
Sources reveal Abdi Osman Keerow was a real estate agent. While Goosar Madaay was a local farmer. Xaajiyo Muuse Macow has been described by sources as an elderly 70 year old women.
On the other end, AFRICOM which oversees US military operations in Africa released a state this afternoon regarding last night’s strike targeting Jilib.
As expected the US denied civilian casualties from the strike and insisted all the victims where terrorists as they put it. The statement published by AFRICOM went further and said 5 militants where killed in the drone strike.
The Halgan Media service desk remains firm on its stance that three (3) civilians where killed in the drone strike, despite the fabricated and misleading statement by US AFRICOM.
