A roadside bomb struck an armored KDF convoy overnight in the occupied NFD region. Local contacts reveal multiple army convoys where traveling on the road between the villages of Kulan and Libooya before running over an improvised explosive device.
One of the KDF convoys burst into flames upon impact according to locals that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity. Scores of Kenyan troops where repordly wounded in the blast. Shortly afterwards, the Kenyan Defense Force (KDF) cordoned off the area of the blast and sealed off the road connecting the villages of Libooya and Kulan.
No group has claimed responsibility for last night’s attack but it’s widely believed that Al Shabaab militants could have been behind the bombing. The militant group Al Shabaab operates in the occupied NFD region with immunity as they regular carry out ambushes, bombings and assassinations.
As of now, it seem the Kenyan government is fighting a battles on two fronts. Authorities in Nairobi have tens of thousands of troops occupying large swaths of territory in Southern Somalia under the guise of the US led war on terror, as they struggle to cope with a growing insurgency in the occupied Somali region of NFD, which has been under Kenyan occupation since 1963.
We will keep you updated with the latest developments from the region.
