Five people including the prominent Somali actress and Youtube sensation, Muna Mustaf have died in a car accident today. Per local media reports, Muna and her colleagues where traveling through Kenya’s Rift Valley prior to colliding head on with a lorry.
The crash is said to have occurred in Mai Mahiu and killed everyone instantly, including Muna. Its not clear what exactly caused the fatal collision but whats confirmed is that the vehicle they where driving in veered off the road, following impact with the lorry.
Muna Mustaf, known by many as “Munish” was a well known among Somalis both at home and in the diaspora and was the leading actress in the hit show dubbed Somali React, which is a popular Youtube series that depicts Somali oriented stories and brought issues effecting Somali society to the television screen.
The popular YouTube series has netted over 34 million views. The team and cast of Somali React changed the film land scape and empowered an entire generation of Somalis with there visual story telling.
The untimely death of Muna Mustaf spread like wildfire on social media and sent shock waves through the Somali community. Condolences have been pouring in from Somalis worldwide, following the fatal collision that took the life of the popular actress and aspiring film maker.
